What is A Year In the Word?
Have you ever started something with good intentions, only to watch it fizzle out? Or set a big goal – like reading through the Bible – only to find yourself stuck a few chapters in? Many times, the issue isn’t our desire or even our discipline. It’s that we’re trying to pursue these things alone.
This year, First Baptist Mont Belvieu will journey through reading the entire Bible together so we can grow in understanding, strengthen our community, and let God’s Word transform our everyday life. You can use this reading plan for your daily readings. We will then gather together on Sunday to dive deeper into a passage from the Bible reading plan for that week. We’re excited to go deeper in God’s Word together!
A YEAR IN THE WORD IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO REGULARLY READ, UNDERSTAND, AND APPLY GOD’S WORD.
IN 2026, WE WILL ALL FOLLOW A BIBLE READING PLAN TOGETHER.
We’re reading through the entire Bible together this year. For the first time, our Sunday messages will follow the same reading plan, so what we hear on Sunday can shape and strengthen us all week long.
Our prayer is that every member of First Baptist will grow to love God’s Word more deeply as we see the beauty of its full story – a glorious story of redemption that begins in Genesis with the tragedy of the Fall and finds its ultimate resolution in Revelation, where God dwells with His redeemed people in a new creation. At the center of this grand story is Jesus Christ, the promised Redeemer who accomplishes salvation for all who believe.
So how does it work?
Monday through Saturday you will read the passage of scripture outlined in your 2026 Bible Reading Plan and review the additional resources here on our website if you want to go deeper. To study together as a family, check out our Simplified Reading Plan and Family Conversation Cards (provided through our partnership with Watermark Community Church).

If you’re wondering how to get started with A Year in the Word, the answer is simple: just start reading with us! You’ll find the Bible Reading Plans linked below, and printed copies will be available in the lobby at Connect Point this Sunday.
We’ve provided two options to help you engage at your own pace. The regular plan guides you through the whole Bible, chapter by chapter. The simplified plan follows the same path but with a bit less reading each day.
